Paradox of an enigma Aug 03, 2008 Jimmy reacts quickly, responsibly, and effectively during life threatening emergencies with a calm and clear head. He is completely focused. Most people would falter or flee during some of the events that Jimmy has experience. Jimmy is, however, useless when it comes to dealing with life's every day trivial dilemas that most people deal with easily. He is a paradox and an enigma.

Lost accent Aug 03, 2008 Mr. Britt has done a fine job of capturing the accent of New Englanders in both of his novels. This accent is being lost.

Amazing likeness Aug 03, 2008 Mr. Britt talks about the extinction of the small town community in both books. It's too bad that our society is losing these historical landmarks.

History Vanishing Aug 03, 2008 Many of the small Mom and Pop General stores are vanishing and are being replaced by superstores. What a shame.
Tucker, Littleton, N.H.
Historical Landmarks Aug 03, 2008 Mr. Britt describes with great precision a general store in Northern New England. I have never been to one of those stores but a good friend of mine is from that area and talks about those small "Mom and Pop" stores the way the author of this book does. Great description. It makes me feel like I am actually there.
